The grinding granules (granulation), contained per square millimeter in the product, amount to K80. 
The higher the size of sandpaper, the higher the density of grains per square millimeter. 
So in small numbers (eg 24, 36, 40...), we have few grains but large diameter that make them ideal for quick smoothing of rough surfaces, while in large numbers (eg 180, 220, 320...), we have more grains with smaller diameter and are ideal for intense grinding and smooth finishing. 
You should also know that when rubbing with the sander the action is clearly greater than by hand.
